Matariki events include traditional dawn ceremonies at Rārangi and Wairau Bar, two exhibitions at Marlborough Art Gallery, night markets, a community event at Linkwater and a light show at Omaka Marae.

Auckland's Matariki Festival will invite visitors to paddle waka and experience kapa haka, as the city celebrates the Māori lunar new year. The festival will run from 7 June to 13 July and decorate central Auckland with murals, sculptures and neon lights.
